On November 8, 2015, through the doors of Pure Night Club on Jacksonville’s Southside walked hundreds of faithful customers – old and new – of a local business that has been around for three decades. That business, For Your Eyes Only Salon and Spa, located in the heart of Mandarin, has been serving their customers and revitalizing locks with love since 1985.

As guests piled into a venue that was transformed into a James Bond-theme and red-carpet entrance, they were faced with an opportunity to take a few keepsake photos at the photo booth before being greeted by none other than Olympic Hairstyling Competitor, former Style Director for the Miss USA Competition and one of the top-10 hairstylists in the world, Owner of For Your Eyes Only, Mr. Carlos Alvarado.

“It was important to me to greet each and every person who walked through the door that night,” said Carlos Alvarado. “Them taking the time to show up tells me how loyal they are to me, to my staff and to my business and that’s worth me taking the time to introduce myself and thank them for allowing us to serve their needs for so long,” he continued.

It was a night to celebrate all of the success and longevity of a local business, but also a night to reflect back on all of the memories… after all, you don’t stay in business for 30 years without getting to know your clientele on a personal level. A video reel of still photographs played throughout the evening to show the past as well some of the present and more recent times as For Your Eyes Only has a beautiful new location just a few miles south of the original location along San Jose Boulevard.

Equipped with tasteful hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in hand, guests were able to mix and mingle, bust a few moves on the dance floor and even try their luck at a few casino games with a prize basket up for grabs to the person with the most chips at the end of the night. All of the prize baskets were comprised from donations from local businesses who didn’t mind helping For Your Eyes Only raise money for a great cause.

Raffle tickets were sold all night long, generating up to five-thousand dollars benefitting Angelwood, a company whose mission is to help improve the quality of life for adults and children with developmental disabilities as well as their families. In addition to the prize baskets, a Billy Donovan autographed basketball was also auctioned off with the money benefiting Angelwood as well.

All in all, it was a night to remember, reflect and celebrate the 30 wonderful years of business and look forward to the 30 more on the horizon for the friends, family, clients and staff of For Your Eyes Only Salon and Spa.
